Massive Media Fumble: DHS 21.6 Million Rounds Purchase A Lie

February 12, 2013

Earlier this month, Infowars.com reported that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “is set to purchase . . . 21.6 million rounds of ammunition.” The article went on to explain how significant such a purchase would be by quoting that “during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month.”

The writer concluded, through “extrapolating the figures” that “DHS has purchased enough bullets over the last 10 months to wage a full scale war for almost 30 years.”

The DHS solicitation quoted was posted on February 6th and stated that “DHS Federal Law Enforcement Training Center requires . . . 100, MX; LI 002, Commercial Leaded Training Ammo (CLTA) PISTOL CARTIDGE 9MM BALL 124 GRAIN P/N AE9AP OR EQUAL BRASS CASING. TOTAL ROUNDS for this line item 40,000 ROUNDS.”

In fact, James Smith of the Prepper Podcast Network (PPN) had reported on the same solicitation two days earlier; breaking down the details of the request for purchase. Smith explained that the DHS asked for:

• 165-grain jacketed hollow point .40 caliber(100,000)
• 115-grain jacketed hollow point 9mm (100,000)
• 124-grain ball round 9mm (40,000)

The actual amount mentioned in the solicitation from DHS, as Smith explains is only “240,000 rounds of ‘training’ ammunition.”

The difference between 21.6 million and 240 thousand is staggering and is explained in the inability of Infowars to understand abbreviations. When the DHS solicitation reads “MX” with reference to the bullet purchase, the letters stand for the word “thousand” not million.

Clearly the “figures” that Infowars “extrapolated” were incorrect and led to a ridiculously high number of bullets attributed to the solicitation and caused an internet panic.

The article from Infowars went viral; even being advertised on Drudge Report which contributed to the article being distributed across alternative media and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. As far as using sensationalized disinformation to coerce internet users to click on their website, this article was a huge draw.

While the loyally-branded public who read alternative media focused on this article, the truth about the DHS solicitation went unnoticed and the rudimentary math skills of the Infowars’ writing staff were ignored.

Another instance of misinforming the public with the mis-quoting of words happened last year when a contributing writer to Infowars claimed that the Department of Defense (DoD) was using “population control [as] part of [a] US stability operation.”

The DoD release quoted as justification for the claim did not say “population control” but rather “population stabilization” and went on to explain how the DoD uses mercenary corporations such as DynCorp and Blackwater to “stabilize” the populations of nations after the use of a manufactured revolution to “keep the peace” until a US patsy would be installed.

Stability operations are defined as “military operations in civilian environments, include many missions, among them peace operations, combating terrorism, counterdrug operations, population security and nation assistance.” However, they are also known as “crisis initiation” in that they are manufactured operations instilled in foreign nations to destabilize those current governments and replace them with a more US-friendly faction.

Fake revolutions across the Arab world have been modeled after the Serbian non-violent resistance movement inspired by Dr. Gene Sharp’s book “From Dictatorship to Democracy: A Conceptual Framework for Liberation”.

388115_2537928537431_1228532351_nLast year, it came out that Molly Maroney, who is the editor in chief and graphics designer for Infowars was a former Stratfor employee who went on to work for Parker Media LLC, a front media corporation for Stratfor, before coming to work for Alex Jones in July 2012.

Maroney also authored a white paper with Parker entitled, “China, Cyber Espionage and US National Security” that entails how the US government can minimize “widespread business loss and government data” against the Chinese with regard to cyber espionage and cyber – attacks. This document is meant to be a “political, military and strategic” report. It is based on “intelligence gathering” with particular focus on the “proficiency in network warfare” and the modernization of potential digital wars. Maroney affirms that the US must become a leader in cybersecurity to protect national digital security against foreign nations.

There have been suspicions that Jones has been corrupted and is working with Stratfor. Jones was making the same predictions about the events surrounding 9/11. Jones also has questionable guests who provide misinformation cloaked as intelligence like CFR member Steve Pechenik, David MacMichael and Ray McGovern from the CIA, James Wesley Rawles from the Army Intelligence.

Jones may very well receive emails directly from Stratfor through an email address 1oldpath@infowars.net. This may be the “anonymous” sources that he claims to have who provide him such accurate information; as well as the reason why he can make accurate predictions by simply “knowing their playbook”.

Infowars.net is another website owned by Jones that appears to be a mirror site to Infowars.com. Although who actually is attached to the email address 1oldpath@infowars.net is unconfirmed, the website itself is controlled and owned by Jones himself. It is also factually evidenced that this email address is on a list of over 850,000 email addresses that receive direct communication from Stratfor.

Having a CIA-front intelligence corporation such as Stratfor sending Jones “intelligence” would explain in a simple way how he seems to know events before it happens.

And yet, the two examples outlined in the beginning of this article show that disinformation is published at Infowars without checking source links and verifying the accuracy of the article’s assertions.

130108030544-pmt-alex-jones-deport-piers-00015607-story-topIn January, Jones proclaimed himself leader of the truth movement and appeared on mainstream television with Piers Morgan to prove once-and-for-all that “conspiracy theorists” are crazed tin-foil hat wearers who are scary gun-toting hicks.

Jones screamed at Morgan: “I’m here to tell you, 1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms! Doesn’t matter how many lemmings you get out there on the street, begging for ‘em to have their guns taken. We will not relinquish them. Do you understand?! That’s why you’re going to fail, and the establishment knows, no matter how much propaganda, the republic will rise again!”

While appearing to be explosive about enacting his 2nd Amendment rights and protecting them at all costs against a federal gun grab, just a few months earlier (in November of 2012) Jones came out to tell his listeners that during the takeover of our government, we should stand down, let them occupy like the Red Coats for a decade, let them rape women and do not fight back.

Jones recommends that his listeners document any incident of rape, but not to use their 2nd Amendment right to defend any victim that may come of the globalist takeover of America. Instead of taking an opportunity to empower his listeners against the tyranny that has usurped our Constitutional Republic, Jones advised his followers to remain vigilant while he rewrote the US Constitution, appointed leaders for the new American Revolution and stand down against the oppressors – but of course take notes.

This statement is in direct contradiction to his talking points on the appearance with Morgan. And it is obvious that Jones preformed the classic “divide and conquer” method to not only discredit alternative news and supporters of the 2nd Amendment. Whether he intentionally participated in a psy-op or unwittingly preformed to the letter, Jones portrayed the alternative media as crazed, tin-foil hat wearers that are completely isolated from the rest of the general public.

There is a war on for your mind and Jones is spear-heading the spreading of disinformation to keep the general public docile while always in a state of panic. Honest and truthful information intermingled with falsified, documented and mis-quoted sources have been a million dollar business for Jones with the Truth Movement at stake.
