2012 Obama Speech: ”We Refused to Let Detroit Go Bankrupt’ (Video)

July 20, 2013

As Detroit files for bankruptcy, the largest city in history ever to do so, we are reminded of the 2012 Obama speech quote in which the president boasts that he ‘refused to let Detroit go bankrupt’ following his ‘revival’ of the auto industry (through absorbing corporations into the bloated government system). While indeed a speech that was focused on his ‘revival’ of the auto industry through expanding government further into the pants of private business, like a TSA agent patting down an attractive woman, this video is critical as it highlights the now blatant facade that our economy is ‘recovering’ with the help of Big Brother Obama and the help of our government. This is in sharp contrast to reality, of course, which shows us that the $83 billion in public taxpayer funding to the mega banks that finance the Mexican drug cartels on record is not a good investment — let alone the bloated Federal Reserve system that acts as a colossal leech on the income streams of average Americans. But let’s look at Detroit. Facing billions in debt, Detroit filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection in federal court on July 18th in what amounts to another mega bailout for an entire city that is

World’s economy tops G20 agenda

July 19, 2013

MOSCOW — Tax evasion and splits over the state of the global economy as emerging markets slow down are the main subjects for a meeting of G20 countries on Friday and Saturday. Finance ministers and central bankers from the Group of 20 top advanced and emerging nations will meet in Moscow for their third gathering this year, to prepare for a G20 summit at the beginning of September in Saint-Petersburg. The summit will focus on progress over cooperation against tax evasion and on regulating finance. One government source, who declined to be named, commented that the priority was “to make headway toward greater transparency, toward stronger action against countries with uncooperative legal systems.” At the last G20 meeting in Washington in April, a joint statement called for international cooperation to attack banking secrecy. The task of organizing this was given to the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the policy research center and forum for advanced democracies. The OECD is to report on its work to the G20 on Friday. A key objective is to tackle techniques of what is known as tax optimization, meaning accounting arrangements used by multinational businesses to minimise their tax bills. Among companies which

Robert Seldon Lady, Ex-CIA Station Chief, Arrested In Panama

July 19, 2013

PANAMA CITY (AP) — A former CIA base chief convicted in the 2003 abduction of a terror suspect from an Italian street has been detained in Panama after Italy requested his arrest in one of the most notorious episodes of the U.S. program known as extraordinary rendition, Italian and Panamanian officials said Thursday. Robert Seldon Lady, the former CIA chief in Milan, entered Panama, crossed the border into Costa Rica and was sent back to Panama where he was detained, according to an Italian official familiar with Italy‘s investigation of the rendition of Cleric Osama Moustafa Hassan Nasr. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the case. A Panamanian National Police official said Lady, 59, had been detained Wednesday on the Costa Rica-Panama border. The official also spoke on condition of anonymity due to lack of authorization to discuss the matter. The government of Panama, which maintains one of the region’s closest relationships with the U.S., was officially silent on the case. Security Minister Jose Raul Mulino told The Associated Press that he was unaware of Lady’s detention and the press office of the National Police — which works with Interpol, the

Global Survey: China Will Surpass U.S. As Leading Superpower

China has supplanted or soon will supplant the U.S. as the world’s leading superpower. That’s the headline from a , which put this proposition to people around the world. In 23 of the 39 countries surveyed, majorities or pluralities said China has overtaken or will overtake America. In China, the verdict was clear: Two-thirds believe their country already has supplanted or eventually will supplant America. In the U.S., about half the country believes America will continue to be a greater economic and political force than China. But the number is down from 54 percent in 2008 to 47 percent today, the survey found. The survey reflects China‘s dramatic rise as a global economic power over the past three decades, and economic turmoil in the U.S. in recent years. “China‘s economic power is on the rise, and many think it will eventually supplant the United States as the world’s dominant superpower,” the report says. U.S. Viewed More Favorably Than China However, those surveyed still had a more favorable view of the U.S. compared with China, with 63 percent having a positive view of America, compared with 50 percent for China. The U.S. was viewed more positively in every region in the
